A Web Log has been shortened to Blog.

Likewise a Video Blog is now a Vlog.

Both exist to share your thoughts and messages with the world via the internet.

And there are lots of both. all you have to do is choose which medium suits you best or have a combination of posts and videos.

But they all start by having some sort of online presence or site.

And it is for you to choose the type of site or presentation that suits you best.

There are many free Blog Sites for you to choose from.

You can go to Blogger (owned by google) or Wordpress or Tumblr or any of those in the image below.

There is also an infographic from OnBlastBlog which saves us from having to write it all out for you.

And of course there is Wix and Weebly. If you want to shop around simply search for Free Blogs To use.

The only problem with such free sites is functionality and branding. You do not have your own domain and instead have something like fredsmith.wordpress.com.......and you will have to pay to get the functions that you want....if they are even available.

Here Is The InfoGraphic Showing Pros and Cons

Things To Consider When Choosing A Free or Bought Site

Anything free is lovely...but it is free for a reason.

If you want your own domain name then the free stuff wont let you.....unless you pay.

And if you want to change the fonts or add, say, an email form then some platforms wont let you...unless you pay.

As a way of "testing the water" the free stuff is great but you soon become frustrated by what they wont do rather than what you want them to do.

The real problem is that you dont know what you want until you get something and then you end up disappointed and disillusioned because its OK but not how you had envisaged it.

Thats why we talk it though with you and make sure you make the choices that will make your dream into a reality.

Use the form below so that we can make a start....and yes that is free!

Not only is it a good idea to have a Privacy Policy, you should be aware that in most countries it is now a legal requirement. In addition google will mark you down if you do not have one!

Then you need Terms and Conditions to set out what your obligations are and what the visitor can expect.

What are you excluding? If you write about health matters then you must say that the contents are for information purposes only and that advice from a Medical Practitioner must be sought. A page called Disclaimers must be published or its contents set out in the Terms and conditions.

And to show that you are indeed real then an About Us page should be written and of course there must be a Contact Us page

The sort of content of these pages can be seen on this site. All pretty boring but necessary.

Without these pages then you will be at risk. They will protect you and the Visitor. Leaving them out will cause you to sink in the rankings and may very well put people off from believing you. It may be that nobody ever reads them but having them is far better than not having them.

There is no point in spending time and effort (or money) in writing great information if nobody ever reads it. You need visitors who are interested in whatever topic you are writing about.

And you want them to come back often.

So you need a site that loads quickly, is easy to navigate and which looks good and is easy to read on a desktop,.tablet or phone.

And you need content that the visitor wants to read.

There are many ways of getting visitors but the two main ones are from search engines and via Social Media. You can learn how to write content in a way that grabs the search engines here and there are many posts in our Blog about using Social Media which you will find useful.

Happy Blogging!
